His love will not let you down. And it’s no dream baby when we tell you what you already know: There's only one Boss; he is a platinum-shifting, stadium-filling rock star; he is a man of the people, making conventional-and-proud-of-it rock music aimed at the American working class; he is a supreme songwriter. What you may not know (until now) is that the Boss’ entire story is told in “Boss: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band--The Illustrated History” (Voyageur Press, $35), a comprehensive look at one of the most influential and biggest selling rock stars of all time. The book hits shelves July 1.

This lavishly illustrated book, a comprehensive overview of a fascinating and unique artist, is an in-depth examination of his life and music. “Boss: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band--The Illustrated History” is a tribute to Springsteen's body of work, from the rock anthem “Born to Run” to his sepia-toned analysis of working-class misery, “The River”. The tome is incredibly in-depth. Starting in Asbury Park, author and music journalist Gillian G. Gaar exhaustively traces Springsteen’s entire life and career, exploring his upbringing and influences, the formation of the E-Street Band, the endless touring before his breakthrough, and the stories and characters that still inform his work today. Taking deep dives into every aspect of the Boss' career, Gaar covers creation of every album, from songwriting to recording, along with reviews for each. There’s details and stories from every tour and behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Each member of the E Street band is profiled with informative sidebars, there’s track listings and credits for every album along with a complete discography. In addition, there’s more than 150 photos including candid shots and stunning concert images. More than your standard coffee table book, "Boss" is a veritable encyclopedic history of Springsteen’s entire life and career.

This is a book that tougher than the rest.
