Bruce Springsteen fans eagerly await ticket information for his gig this fall at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre. I know, because not a day goes by when I don’t hear from them.

Sources say that Jujamcyn Theaters, which owns the Kerr, is getting a little nervous: The company passed on some plays to make room for the Boss and would like to get things rolling. But Springsteen, 67, seems to be in no rush to make his Broadway debut. He’s putting together his act and will make an official announcement when he’s good and ready.

“It’s not like he needs to crank up the publicity,” one source says. “I think tickets will sell out in about 30 seconds.”

As The Post reported in June, Springsteen plans to perform five shows a week for eight weeks. He wants to appear in a cozy setting — the Kerr has just 975 seats — as opposed to the huge arenas he sells out all over the world.

His show, sources say, will reflect the intimacy of the Kerr. He’ll be reading from “Born To Run,” his best-selling memoir, and picking up his guitar from time to time to illustrate a point or a moment from his life with one of his songs. (Sounds like an evening at the 92nd Street Y to me.)

There may not even be a backup band, but if there is, a source says, “it will be very small.”

“Born To Run” won raves from book critics. It’s an unvarnished, often painful, account of his troubled childhood. His father was a heavy drinker who suffered from depression. One night, when he threatened Springsteen’s mother, the Boss hit him with a baseball bat. His dad just laughed.

Anecdotes like that could make for a compelling evening, though the Boss should practice his delivery. And he might consult a few theater pros to help him shape the show.

I’d nominate Doug McGrath, who wrote “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” and Lonny Price, who’s staged a number of acclaimed Broadway concerts. Both are fast and work well with big stars.

We don’t want the Boss wandering around up there, riffing. A Broadway show needs to be tight and bright, not four hours long. The stagehands would be happy — overtime, baby! — but there’d go the profits.

Oh that sounds so interesting.  Hearing him read from a book I've already read.  This idea is getting worse by the minute.

That does sound a bit odd.  The reporter made it sound like we'd be listening to the audiobook in person.  I'd have thought it would be part concert, part stories, and maybe even a few questions and answers like the Double Day Benefits.

This is a writer for the New York Post, the originators of this rumor. He never identifies anyone, only a "source" or "sources," not even an association. More legitimate news organizations cite sources and also their affiliation, i.e., "Justice department officials" or, in this instance, it would be someone at Sony or Jon Landau Management, someone who actually knows what they are talking about.  Riedel then goes on with a lot of ridiculous speculation about Bruce's ability to perform. Suggesting that "he might consult a few theater pros to help him shape the show" proves he knows little or nothing about Bruce Springsteen as a live performer.  If anyone knows how to "shape a show" it's Bruce.

"I've done my best to live the right way"

Perhaps this guy, Riedel, is being fed misinformation and is eating it up cuz everyone here is right.  This sounds absurd.

Book deal featuring more than just the book?

Just thinking out loud but I doubt it.  The publisher got more than their money's worth and Bruce could certainly make much more playing arenas during that time span.  If this happens it's... for the satisfaction of playing on Broadway.  Not many other roads to conquer, right?

If this rumor is true to me it would fit to the retrospective mood that Bruce went through after the release of Wrecking Ball in 2012. High Hopes (with the BITUSA DVD), River Boxset and tour, Chapter and Verse, BTR autobiography - no new stuff here.

Bruce clearly enjoyed the BTR book tour. Why not do it again and throw in a couple of tunes? The Theatre is not far from his home. So no big traveling around and also tickets (despite the presumably insane prices) will sell in a wink of an eye.

You also have to keep in mind that he's turning 68 soon. I guess he's fully aware that in a couple of years the times of 3+ hours ESB shows are over. I don't think he'll retire so therefore he has to think about how to handle future tours. Maybe we got a glimpse of this on the River tour 16/17 where the single legs where 2 to 3 months long. That would also fit to what SVZ said in interview a while ago. He stated that he likes to go on tour every year but only for couple of months.

On the other hand Bruce is an Entertainer. He needs the energy from the audience. So I'm not sure if he's satisfied in reading from his book and play some songs for forty shows in a row.

If he really wants to do this thing it's fine with me. But after that please release the new album.

I was wrong too. Looks like with rehearsals is 40 shows X 960 seats = 38,400 minus the inevitable holdbacks. Might have 1 in 10 chance? Demand will be 10 times that. Wonder if tix will be will call or supposedly non-transferable. I've never seen them check credit cards to see if you were original purchaser even when they said that.

I'm just guessing but from the looks of this they  want to keep the scalping to a minimum.  I'm thinking it will be up a notch from normal and you will have to produce an ID.
