I'm in a bar a block from the venue.  Just met an older couple that looks like they are 60ish and they are seeing him for the first time.  They are as giddy as schoolgirls with excitement! Pretty neat to see.

That was a really interesting show/tour to go to.  Was a bit disappointed that Darlington County opened up the non-River set (he played it last time he was here) and No Surrender had a nice intro about a person who went cross country in a wheelchair averaging 71 miles a day and "No Surrender" was the song that motivated him on his trek.

Bruce and the band did justice to all of The River songs (when I think they would be tempted at times just to get through a few of them), but it seemed like once The River set was over, things could loosen up and then the crowd really got going (maybe that had more to do with the depressing as shit songs that close out the album).

I did't check my watch but I believe the show started around 8:15 or so and ended around 11:25 (our parking garage closes at midnight so we were pushing it and left right at the end of Shout and made it to the car with 10 minutes to spare).

Tougher Than The Rest was a highlight for me, as a teenager I used to love watching that video and Bruce and Patti sounded great together (in 1988 form).

That fellow in the wheel chair was a vet and No Surrender was his theme song on his wheel chair trek cross country to raise money for the cause.  Bobby Mueller and a bunch of vets were in the house and got a shout out. After listening to the first two shows and attending the last two.  This was easily the best so far IMHO.  Bruce really appeared to be enjoying himself they loosened up a bit and extended a couple of the album songs.  The band seemed tighter and happier.  The sound check was late and the arena staff wouldn't let anyone in until it was finished.  Froze our asses off outside.

These shows are a far cry from what we've grown accustomed to.  If this format stays the same then I don't think anyone has to go to more than a few.  Five or six songs after The River  have not changed.  So it's a bit anti climactic for me.

That being said it's still the best bang for your buck and I'm still on a rush...so go figure?

nice little mixup there..

I'm trying to not follow the setlists..lol. in hopes the end songs change. Would like to be surprised and not see dancing in there..haha.

Still can't wait for philly. Sad I didn't get tickets for the 4 of us for Newark.  Would have been cool to walk across the street from our hotel to go to arena.

That would have sucks DB if you missed the lockdown time.

My musings from last night........... Had surgery on my foot 2 weeks ago and my seats weren't accessible for my crutches although I was happy to hop up to them.  The steward said it was a safety concern so they placed us behind the stage in the accessible seats.........

Musings from behind the stage but right up close:

Jake- Nailed the parts he plays on.........great stage charisma and has grown into his spot. He's a dancer

Max- a robot- magical to watch from behind and amazing energy and pace

Stevie-  a showman

Bruce- great energy

The pit- hysterical to watch the folks in the front row....  Annoying guy right next to the teleprompter who was waving to Bruce madly throughout the show and practically fondled him each time he went near.  It was fun to see what Bruce looks at out at the pit (or maybe doesn't look at).  Interesting perspective to see. Interesting- looked like the pit was 75% men.............

Other goings on- the signers signing, the techs prepping guitars, the small little nuanced breaks everyone takes, the looks, the roadies packing up the guitars with 3 songs to go, all the staff dancing along with bruce backstage, and in general, all the people to watch as Bruce is playing.

Yes- I agree, the River was great, Tougher than the Rest a nice surprise, and the rest, we have seen.............but it was a great show.  You can see he really loves the River, and so does Stevie.......

So, if any of you were the guy jumping up and down at the teleprompter, waving to Bruce for 3 1/2 hours and groping his thigh....... Damn, I wish that had been my spot.

enjoy the shows everyone.............

It's funny what you notice.   We were a long way away from the stage, upper level way back, but noticed 2 long haired blonds in the front row on either side of the main push out that were very enthusiastic.  Also, it was priceless seeing the sign language interpreter react as Bruce walked by her when he came out into the crowd for the first time.  She was focused on signing with her back to the stage and as he brushed by her, she was startled at first then had this huge grin.  Kind of a holy crap moment for her.

Any word on a boot of this yet?my best friend growing up in New York State was there with his son and I want to get it for him.

Not the "official" one...one of our guys recordings....If someone was there.

TIA

It was me jumping and waving and touchnig the guitar. So sorry annoying you but I don´t give a f****. We had the time of our lives and he loved it, too ... otherwise he wouldn´t have come that oft down to that spot. I travel with Bruce and the E Street Band since more than 30 years .... thousands of miles, loike many of us. Once this dream comes true, standing center front with your friends you don´t care if sombody likes it the way you party !

"It's the same fucking riff!"
