Hi all

Just got back from Cardiff - ABSOLUTELY BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!

I've just read through the setlist posting and it was fun to remind me of all that went on.

It was a great party atmosphere tonight - it was a 'small' venue with the roof closed and only a third of the stadium used but it made it all the more intimate. Cracking setlist (and only DITD from BITUSA - is this a first since '85?).

Highlights for me were (well it was all a highlight but you now what I mean) Long Walk Home, Roulette, Tougher, Eric Burdon appearing - what a voice! tore the house down! MCOR,  and Janey - that was beautiful not expected as I thought he was going straight into TR.

The sign for TV Movie had Seaside Bar Song on the reverse and it looked like that was what they were going to play as he was holding it that way up and pointing  -as it transpired he was pointing to the back of the sign and saying 'This has never been played before' - even though I would have preferred Seaside TV Movie was a lot of fun and I think set the party tone for the evening.

My night was almost ruined right at the start though as one lady behind me asked me to sit down SECONDS INTO THE FIRST SONG. I was so shocked I bloody did - but it didn't last long I was back in position by the next one.

All in all a great night - the best of Bruce I've seen - This is the first show I've been able to make since Crystal Palace in 2003 and it was a last minute thing - soooo glad I did - even the songs that we usually moan about when following a setlist were still great fun.

I'll see what photos I have and upload if any are half decent.

P.S.

 ticket touts

Tossers who sell fake T-shirts after the show

All made better by a cracking show

Mmm I don't know and it isn't likely I will agree, but surely this leg is much better than 2012

Well I did 2 nights at Bercy in 2012. Wembley & Coventry in 2013. I'd choose Bercy all day long.

Best tour since the River - No!

Wipin' our fingers on a Texaco road map

First, you can't say that either Bercy 2012 were the average tour date.
They were by far the best of last year's tour.

Mostly, it's the way Bruce and the band are playing right now. Setlists tell just a small part of the story. I can tell you, Ullevi 2 can't hold against any of this July's dates.

I've been to both San Siro and Ullevi 2003 and they are not even in the same league of these last shows. This year is the best of the best and you perfectly know this.
It's not just the setlists, it's everything.
But the americans here are pissed off because the tour ain't going back to the US, and they'll never admit that

No, not even close.

The majority of shows since the start of the month have been good, but those before it were dreadful. Lazy, unimaginative full album shows sit alongside the first few Rising shows towards the bottom of the Bruce touring ranking for me.

Love that pic of nils.... awesome

Thanks Todd - still buzzing from it even after only 3 hours sleep. Some really beautiful moments mixed in with the partying. Very poignant and moving tribute to Danny & Clarence, just splendid.

Hope everyone enjoys the remaining shows - off now to buy more limes in readiness for tonight...

In search of the perfect Mojito...

Pointless exercise to compare tours, I have been to great shows and mediocre shows (by Springsteen standards) on every tour, usually the poor shows have nothing to do with Bruce, either annoying audience or over familiarity with the set, but Bruce gives his all every night! I have been to London, Glasgow, Coventry & Paris before last night, I enjoyed Glasgow the most of the four listed, but last night was better than the lot, The Set List the indoor acoustics, Eric Burdon, Steve's new Babe it was fantastic up there with any show on any tour and I've seen him in Sweden, Italy, Spain & the USA, the line that made me smile was during the extended rap before Spirit, he said "next July, I'll have been doing this 50yrs" a massive cheer goes up and Bruce snaps back " I don't know about cheering, you should be praying!" with a big grin on his face.

A wonderful show for the Welsh people, who created a great atmosphere in what has got to be one of the largest 'indoor' show's Bruce has played.

It was an excellent show, though I wouldn't go as overboard about it as most people seem to be doing.

The way they'd set up the venue was superb, I thought.  I couldn't believe it when I walked in.  Felt like a small arena show.

Sound quality was excellent from my position [lower level seats on Roy's side] - loud and clear.  Really showed up Wembley, that's for sure.

I personally thought Bruce was a little 'off', more so early doors than later on.  He seemed looser and like he was enjoying it more in Coventry.

It was a great set-list for the hardcore Brucefag, but wasn't without fault.  Spirit and My City of Ruins were fucking interminable.  I didn't think they could get longer and more boring than earlier in the tour, but I was evidently wrong on that one.  On the plus side, they may not appear later in Leeds.  The two-pack of Pay Me and Shackled is also bloody awful.

For me, it's also missing an epic or two take it completely over the top.  Chuck in something like Jungleland, Incident, Backstreets... then you're really cooking.

Best since The River tour? Well probably not but as with most of my 40 or so shows the immediate impact is that “brilliant”, “staggering” , “best ever” type words fill your head. But it was definitely memorable in many ways.

I think for me the context of it being 24 hours after watching the fan adulation of Springsteen & I meant I probably approached it in a slightly different frame of mind. It was also one of the rare shows for which I have booked into a local hotel (200 yards away) and therefore had the opportunity to meet up with other “like minded” souls – nice nightcap chat with Riverdude and Mrs Riverdude.

The individual fan experience is, for me , what its all about and although, as Michael says, there was no “epic” in there (Roulette gets close for me) the overall makeup of the show was excellent and somehow hit home.

There was a question earlier about the playing of Janey before Thunder Road – was it for NJRosie? Whether Bruce meant it to be or not – it was.

RIP NJRosie.

In the soft summer rain.

I'm not pissed...

I'm down right fuming...

especially that he isn't coming to Seattle area

I have no worries about admitting it either.

The last few shows of this leg have been something...The start of this leg down right sucked...especially for all our guys going to show after show after show only to get the exact same show as the other two shows before.

There have been a lot of GREAT shows inbetween so to sit here and say that this tour...this tour is the greatest tour since The River tour is just asinine.

Since The River tour there have been over a thousand shows. some with the band some with out the band others with a different band.Every tour is great every tour has it's shitty part.

I think one of the best tours since The River tour was The Reunion tour....

It had the best of both worlds....

NOT TO MENTION IT PROVED TO US THAT HE WASN'T DONE.

Had there not been a reunion tour....

This so called greatest tour wouldn't have even existed...

What was that????

The bits in MCOR and the video images of Danny and Clarence merged with the screen feed during 10th Av. you could really see the pain and pride on his face.

Hmm, I thought Bruce was loose as a goose and cooking from second number one! A fabulous night in sunny Wales (not that you could tell with the roof closed!). I could not agree more about "My City Of Ruins", which went on and on, but I can't relate to you putting "Spirit In The Night" in the same bracket at all, it was brilliant! Long and loose because of extreme audience interaction (he nearly lost it at one point!) but just fab. I thought the new songs all worked well together too. The little lad who was pulled up to sing "Waiting On A Sunny Day" was priceless too, a proper heart-melter!

Yes, I'd have loved to see "Jungleland" or "Rosalita" or "Backstreets" but so what? We've all seen them before but some of us haven't seen some of these "River" songs for a long time, if at all! A small price to pay.

An total aside - well done Jake! 8-)

All in all it was not the night I was expecting at all and - despite a few bumps in the road - all the better for it. Thank you Bruce & the E Street Band!
