Reply to "How many pints will he guzzle onstage in Kilkenny, Nowlan Park, Official Night One Setlist Thread"

Hi to all, just recovering at Hotel in Cashel 60km from Kilkenny after a great show in Kilkenny last night. Im sure people reading the setlist will have thought, boring seen it all before etc etc. This was my 7th show this tour and tonight will be my 8th, I like everyone here love it when he plays the rareties, Drive all Night was beautiful last night, even in duet form, Glen Hansard by the way was fantastic in his set and performed Drive with Bruce really well, he is a real fan and was ecstatic to be playing the same stage.
For me this show had nowhere near the intensity of Leeds which if im honest was in the top 3 of the 60+ shows i have seen in Europe, but this was a stadium show, he is playing to in my estimation 35,000 people, he's not going to play a rare album just for the benefit of the 500 diehards and then alienate 34,500 people, so i think the few on here that think they will here WIESS are deluded, dont get me wrong, i would die a very happy man if it happened, but i think it is highly unlikely although I do feel we are in for something special tonight, special guest? Or brand new track, something that will keep everyone happy. Bruce was on great form last night, having great banter with the sign request, telling the audience there was a kid stage left at all the shows with big head phones on, holding up these signs trying to stump the ESB, no smile nothin, try this one old man, let's see what you got, last time it was wild thing & tonight (shows sign to crowd) SHAKE there is a big discussion about which key, it's at this point Stevie always comes to the fore directing the other members of the band including Bruce, anyway they nail the song and then Sweet Soul Music straight after, brilliant performance both, great with the horns, at the end of the song Bruce turns back to the young lad in the crowd with the big head phones on, they show him on the screens, i think he is part of the Spanish contingent, he was looking quite bemused, Bruce shouts " there he is, we did it you little bastard" really laughing and hamming it up for the crowd who loved it.
Just a note about TLLOM it is the full version at the start of the show Cindy's voice is absolutely extraordinary on this, she absolutely shines and at the end of the show it reprises, it is a wonderful way to bookend the show, a show for these very hard times in the US and Europe, it focuses on hope in dark times, i think it is a brilliant choice admittedly more SS than ESB but thats regardless. Bruce gave a lovely intro into BITUSA tonight saying that the Slane Castle gig will always be one of those outstanding memories, the first massive show outside of the states, he said there was more people at that than i thought was in the whole of Ireland (massive cheer) he said and one or two of them may have had a drink! He said i was watching the front rows and they were going nuts, I was having a fucking heart attack thinking someone is going to get killed (laughing) anyway Kilkenny this is BITUSA.
Enjoyable show, watching it from the second barrier, i was in the nosebleeds in Paris without my binoculars, so tonight made up for that, looking forward to tonight whatever may happen, enjoy the show if you are going and I hope it is an exciting setlist for the Worldwide fans on SPL the true fans forum.
