I have a stack of Backstreets magazines. In the midst of the spring cleaning, I think I want to unload them. Anybody want them? Are they worth anything? I have no idea.

Decided to keep the bootlegs, but the magazines I can do without.

Gotta say: nice to have a little Bruce break here. I hope it's a couple years.

I'm with you, gonna let go of my collection as well. From '88 to roughly '02 I tried to get every official CD release (singles, EPs, promos, imports, etc.) Don't ask me why.

TOP 10 THINGS I SAID THAT DIDN'T SEEM QUITE AS STUPID 20 YEARS AGO:

10. "Yeah the songs are the same, but on this one the cover type is in BLUE, and on this one it is PINK, so of course I need both!"

9. "I know! It says BURCE! They misspelled his name! BURCE!!! I don't care that it costs $75.00!!! I need it!"

8. "Yeah, but THIS one comes in a TIN CAN!!!!"

7. "FOUR alternate mixes of 57 Channels??? I'll take TWO!!!"

6. "Dude, that extra 31 seconds of organ makes it SOOO worth $100.00!"

5. "Oh. My. God. They actually have it. The ultra-rare "Chicken Lips and Lizard Hips" 2-track promo-only. No, I don't need to pay the rent this month..."

4. "How much??? $250.00?? Who cares, in 10 years this sucker will sell for $1000.00!!!"

3. "Secret Garden! Orange cover! Secret Garden! Green Cover! Secret Garden! Blue cover! Secret Garden! Rare French alternate picture cover! Secret Garden! With strings! Secret Garden! Jerry Maguire mix! Secret Garden! Japanese obi!!! Yes yes yes yes!"

2. "See here where it says PROMOTIONAL ONLY? Yeah, that's the only difference. Well, that and it comes in a totally nondescript plain white cardboard sleeve. Trust me, it's worth it."

1. "NO! We don't EVER open them!! Are you out of your mind????"

Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem... pathetic.

Anyone care to make an offer?

I´m interested in these magazines, because I´m still collecting them.

I live in Germany, so if both of you would send them to my country...

PM sent to both of you.

wink

If it says "Collectors Item", it isn't.

He copied SPL from CJ's idiotic motto right down to the secret Mod gossip forum.

I use to love to go to the record shows once a month to hunt down Bruce boots. I never got into the rare legit stuff, although a friend of mine did. I think he has some red vinyl BUSA album he found there. Anyway, the whole community thing died years ago with file sharing that could be done from the computer.

I remember once finding "This Guns For Hire" and "Sugarland at the same time in 1986 and could only afford one. So I bought one, this guy next to me bought another and we swapped tapes of them made off the records. Got to know they guy and still do almost a quarter century later.

There was something cool about buying those things at the record swap meets. You sensed it was a bit illegal and you did not really know if the sound would suck until you got it home and threw it n the turntable. Ahhh, good times. Miss em.

I kind of miss that time too. On the other hand I am happy about all the money I am saving today. Some of the stuff that costed like 10 official albums I wouldn't even burn to discs if I downloaded the music for free now.

I was more taken by your lack of basic understanding of the human reproductive system.

So when are you going to make 10 threads about how you're leaving SPL (for the third time now?) and never coming back? I mean, isn't that what you like to do to get attention? smile

Face facts - you'll never be the SPL heavy as long as you have the screen name of a feminine hygene product & your avatar is nodding along to Lady Gaga.

Stick to what you do best - tossing off to bad audience tapes.

Yeah your avatar is a LOT cooler!! It's got binary numbers there, now that's amazing! Where did you get that?? And 'uberlicious'? Not even gonna say anything about that. I'm guessing you already have a boner over there as you're actually discussing with someone for the first time this month. Too bad it's still only online but the good thing is we can't see how fat & ugly you are smile

Is this thread going off-topic? laugh

edit: and WTF is SPL heavy? Grow up internet hero.

SPL heavy refers to those who have been sucked into the internet ether. They hang around all day on the SPL, Greasy Lake and BTX (though they'll never admit to the latter two), surfing the web in vain for a glimpse of pre-1984 Springsteen. They know he's out there, and they're prepared to see their waistlines expand in reverse correlation to the quality of recent albums.

A combination of lack of exercise and the release of WOAD caused several strokes among the SPL heavy population, which is why it's been a little quiet here lately.
