Yeah but you have to dress smart, so that rules you out.

I can see myself right there, with my 56k modem, going to sleep for like two days in a row with the connection open, just to download the Tenth Ave.mp3 from the latest reunion show uploaded to the glorious spl ftp site.
Priceless memories.
Thank you guys, all of you. You're part of my life.

Whoa. SkipJack is right! Reunion 1999 is when the SPL was born.

We've also had 10 years of New Labour as well, Americans Invading countries their president cant spell, Scousers not winning titles, Tim Henman losing at Wimbledon, 57,000 channels and nothing on, queues, queues, and more queues, Phil 'the power' Taylor (what a fucking hero, he is the Springsteen of the Darts world) Ebay, wow Ebay, Facepaint and Facebook, my space, and 'get out of my car parking space'. Poles, thousands of them, there's probably one on a cone infested British Motorway now, oh and a decade of greatness from the man, for whom the bell will never toll.

Thanks.

I learned about us on the Luckytown Digest. It's hard to realize it's ten years. It's been a daily habit to come here before starting work and checking out the new posts. Over those ten years, I checked out the other Bruce boards and none of them come close to this place.

"We've also had 10 years of New Labour as well" is not entirely true as you may see from this quote from Wikipedia:

New Labour" was first termed as an alternative branding for the Labour Party, dating from a conference slogan first used by the Labour Party in 1994 which was later seen in a draft manifesto published by the party in 1996, called New Labour, New Life For Britain.

Thank you guys, all of you. You're part of my life.

Stumbled across the FTP (and then subsequently this board, in which I thought all the posts were SPAM; as none of them discussed Springsteen except to trash him. All they would do is swear and boast who had the "least small" penis.) back then too. The FTP consummed all my bandwidth and time (ala dial-up modem), as I grabbed every show I could get my mitts on. Even ones I had no idea about. Bootlegs were rather rare (or expensive... $100 CDN avg for an album) back then, so this was like a gold mine on the "Information Super Hiway". Hell, we were actually GLAD that they were MP3's and encoded to 128kps because of the length of time it took to download an entire show! The FTP blew the doors off Napster (before it was sued to dust & turned stupid). Tip of the hat to all involved in that project! Just think, if it weren't for that FTP being available back then, I might never have even bothered with the SPL altogether! Wow, eh? wink

Happy 10th SPL. It aint what it used to be. It aint what it should be. It hasn't had a crash in years months now. It seems to keep chugging along, so long as CJ gets his donations, as the majority of contributers of seasons past are long gone. I think it will be interesting to see if it ever gets more lively, and back to the niche it carved for itself over the first 10 years, or if it will take another path that may lead to it finally addmitting it is now "Stone Greasy Pony Lake London" (to that effect). We shall see...

O please, not this discussion again about "what the SPL used to be".
You said it yourself "It aint what it used to be", or, in other words "things change" and this included/includes people coming and going but also dickheads coming and going.
If you think the SPL "aint what it should be", try to change it.
If you want your own world, leave.
Yes, you can.

Why not - we have plenty (and always has had) of threads about how the new (Rising, D&D, Seeger, Magic, WOAD) album sucks big time and how much better he was i '75. There's a thing that hasn't changed grin If people want to live in the past let them, the rest of us have moved on long time ago.

Happy 10th SPL smile

Who shit in your breakfast this morning?

If you can read (try again, this time without moving your lips), it is not a "discussion" or a "want my own world" (whatever the fuck that means) type peice of writing genius. No, it is a "reflection" peice that, despite the obviously still lingering "hurt feelings" of some, is nonetheless a part of SPL folklore.

So, quit being so quick to condemn those that choose to remember, choose to reflect, and choose to learn from the past. You may just learn something yourself.

PS - Your writing style is strangely simular to "what once was" of which you communicated your contempt ... perhaps you miss aspects of the past that you have yet to come to terms with, among other conflicts in your life.
